It’s always good to see companywide progress on all our current projects, here at Structures Group we strive to ensure a consistent approach to high quality workmanship throughout all our offered services.
In collaboration with PROB UK, the internal and external refurbishment of this Portland stone building on Ford Street, Salford is well underway. Our abrasive cleaning team have done an outstanding job of grit blasting the internal envelope. Grit blasting works to clean even the most stubborn surfaces through the process of abrasion by forcibly firing sand medium at the building substrate to remove the strongest surface adhesives such as paints, oils, dust and debris. Our abrasive clean has successfully removed masonry paint from the internal brickwork and rust from steel columns to help return the building to a sound, clean surface to be refurbished from.
Consecutively, after the abrasive clean, we have also completed our concrete repair element of the works package. As Flexcrete approved contractors we use a wide range of Flexcrete products to achieve excellent results. Including light concrete repair works, fairing coats and the application of anti-carbonation coatings to help maximise the lifespan of concrete detailing throughout the internal structure of the building.
With the internal works now complete, our external works package is in full swing including an extensive de-vegetation to the building’s elevations. We are now working to restore the Portland stone facade by a commencing a full heritage refurbishment including a rake out/repoint of the Portland stone blocks in lime mortar, a DOFF steam clean to remove all dirt and graffiti and stone masonry repairs using specialist repair mortars.
