Heritage masonry restoration to Royal Court Theatre, WiganDate: 10 August, 2021 | Author: Administrator
We're approaching the final stages of our work on The Royal Court Theatre, Wigan.
In working partnership with Coccion Construction, we were commissioned to undertake the external masonry repairs as part of the emergency works package.
Particularly to the parapet and overall roof structure, the masonry elements were deteriorated due to years of weathering and frost/thaw cycles.
Our specialist operatives mobilised to carry out the take down/rebuild the top courses of parapet masonry. By taking down and rebuilding the handmade bricks and re-setting the coping stones we made the parapet brickwork structurally sound again.
Now the structural defects have been remedied, a high quantity of heritage repointing to match the existing hydraulic lime mortar joints is currently being carried out which will promote longevity to the heritage brickwork thus helping to improve the buildings overall life cycle.
We believe in restoring our Nations listed building stock, one brick at a time!
In addition to the current works package we have also undertaken a large quantity of variation items whilst on the project. In aid of further progressing the works, we have been tasked with carrying out additional works including the localised treatment of exposed metal framework elements, the restoration of cast iron features and the removal of non-licensed asbestos to name a few!
Our operatives are versatile which allow us to offer a wide range of services to help benefit our clients. Making Structures Group the ideal refurb contractor to have on site from design consultation through to completion.
